HISTORY OF THE RAINDROP TECHNIQUE

What inspired Gary Young, founder of Young Living Essential Oils, to develop the Raindrop Technique? Gary was visiting an event at the Lakota Reservation in North Dakota. He observed their custom of sitting in hot saunas and then dipping their bodies into cold water in the stream nearby. After drying off, they would turn their back to the Northern Lights. Essential Oil of Birch was sprinkled onto the spine and a feather was used to feather the oils across the back. They believed the energy from the sky charged the oils. The beautiful birch oil penetrated through the skin and offered its healing modalities, and the fragrance was uplifting. As an apprentice to Gary Young, I had the opportunity to experience his work as he developed the techniques for the Raindrop Therapy as applied to the spine and Vita Flex on the feet. Later he developed the auricular technique and the Raindrop Therapy for Animals.

BENEFITS OF THE RAINDROP TECHNIQUE

With the use of select organic Young Living Essential oils, the Raindrop Technique combines and layers the oils to add greater benefits making it far superior to a regular massage. The application of the therapeutic oils has many qualities such as anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral qualities. These oils are all from safe organic plant sources. Most people would agree that the Raindrop and massage technique is smoothing, relaxing and pleasurable. Gary Young chose nine essential oils scientifically tested for their healing qualities. When applied, they work synergistically to climate bacterial pathogens, reduce inflammation, support the immune system, ease respiratory discomfort, relax stressed muscles, and relieve the body from bone and joint discomfort. The official Raindrop Technique Single Oils are as follows: Oregano, Thyme, Basil, Cypress, Wintergreen, Marjoram, and Peppermint. The official Raindrop Technique Essential Oil Blends are as follows: Valor, Aroma Seize, and White Angelica. A more cost effective option for White Angelica is Wintergreen, which is included in the Young Living Raindrop Technique Kit.

RAINDROP TECHNIQUE EXPLAINED

Four to five drops of each essential oil are dispensed on the back starting at the base of the spine and up to the neck. It’s important to hold the bottle about six inches away from the spine while dispensing the oils. With the back of the fingers, the oils are feathered away from the spine from the kidney area right up to the vertebrae in the neck. As the oils are feathered up the spine on each vertebra and nerves the oils will be absorbed to the hollow and solid organs, and the blood and lymph system. It takes approximately forty-five minutes to apply the oils to spine, but extra time is required if oils are applied to feet and hands. Several variations of the Raindrop Technique can be customized to a person’s specific emotional and physical needs. The technique can be used for family use or included in a professional service.
